The Orissa High Court has issued an advertisement for recruitment of Research Assistants. The offline application process for the recruitment drive has already started.

As per the notification issued by the registrar of the Orissa High Court, applications are invited from the eligible candidates for an opening of 27 Research Assistants in the High Court of Orissa with a fixed honorarium/ stipend of Rs 30,000 a month. The eligibility criteria to apply include:

This engagement is purely temporary and contractual in nature for a term coterminous with that of the Chief Justice or for a term of two years whichever comes to an end earlier, though this may be extended further by two years at a time as may be considered appropriate under the terms and conditions in the Scheme for Selection and Appointment of Research Assistants attached to Appendix-7, Rule 5(6). Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications: 

The candidates must have acquired their LL.B degree from any recognized university within the last three years. They should not have practiced law for more than five years if they are currently practicing attorneys and must have a solid working knowledge of computers. The candidate should be in good physical and mental health, having no physical or mental disabilities which prevent him/her from performing the duties required by this position.

Disqualifications:

  • A candidate for office should have only one living spouse, and if he is a member of the clergy, the candidate should also be married to such a spouse legally.
  • A candidate shouldn’t have been convicted or involved in any pending criminal case.

Age:

No candidate should be older than 33 years as of January 1st, 2021.

Mode of Selection:

The candidates interested in working for the Chief Justice or with a particular judge would complete and submit an application form through the Registrar General of the High Court of Orissa. The completed applications will be reviewed by the Registry, and those that are able should be presented to the Chief Justice/Judge as per what was expected. The Chief Justice/Judges may either call in specific applicants for an interview or talk to them personally if they wish to do so.

Researchers will be finalized and appointed as Research Assistants by Chief Justices/Judges, to whom these research assistants are dedicated. Once the decision is made to appoint researchers, the Registrar General will be provided an official letter of engagement from the Chief Justice/Judge, signed on behalf of the judiciary branch.

Character:

A candidate must be a person of good morals and strong character for which he or she will provide written statements from at least two persons responsible for their character. One of the persons should be a current employer.
