It is a perfect destination for travelers and is having such a breathtaking view after a five-hour journey from Bhubaneswar. It is the Little Tibet of Odisha.
The Padmasambhava Mahavihara Monastery, commonly known as Jiranga Monastery is in Chandragiri and is around 80 kilometers from Brahmapur city and 88 kilometers from Parlakhemundi, in the south-east of Odisha in Gajapati district.

About Jiranga Temple:

In Eastern India, the Jiranga Monastery of Odisha is considered to be the largest Buddhist monastery of South Asia.
The Jiranga Monastery of Gajapati was inaugurated by Dalai Lama in the year 2010 for the Tibetan refugees to provide them shelter. They named this place as Phuntsokling, which means “The Land of Happiness and Plenty”. While entering to Jiranga temple you will find colorful flags which signs as the welcome sign on both sides of the road.
Inside the temple, you can find a huge image of Dhyana Buddha painted golden which is treasured by Padma pada and Manjushree. It is worth watching. You will feel something different out from the world. The silent environment, cleanliness and greenery and specially the people will attract you to visit again.

Best Time to Visit Jiranga Monastery:

The visiting hours are from 7:00 am in the morning to 5:00 pm in the evening. There is no entry fee. And parking space is available. The best season to visit Chandragiri is during the winter, from November to January last and mid-February.
The attraction of the place is the Jiranga Monastery and the large scale of horticulture plantations as well as the cultural activities of the Tibetan people in Jiranga makes this place more colorful and attractive for the travelers.

The nearest Railway Station is Berhampur, Odisha.

The nearest Airport is Bhubaneswar, the distance of Jeerango or Jiranga Monastery from Bhubaneswar is around 263 kms, you can go by a car.

Regular bus services are available from Berhampur to Chandragiri. You can book Cabs/ Taxis to drive down to Chandragiri. The amazing landscape makes it special and gives a great scenic picturesque. It is such an amazing and different experience.
