Gopalpur Beach:

Gopalpur beach is the one of the most famous sea beaches in Berhampur. It is also a topmost tourist attraction place located 15 kms away from Berhampur.  It can be visited throughout the year but the best time is from October to March, you can watch the sunrise and the weather feels cool and charming.

Sea beach festival in the month of December is also a major attraction in Gopalpur, promoting tourism and culture. Famous celebrities are invited to perform live concerts and, classical and folk dances. 

There is a lighthouse in Gopalpur beach, which will give you a 360-degree view of the beach and you can take good photographs also. It helps in directing the ships sailing far.

Dhabaleshwar beach is 20 kms from Berhampur and is a sunrise viewpoint with forest on one side and beach on the other. You will feel sun-kissed and the sound of the waves are pampering. Maa Budhi Thakurani temple is a highly worshipped Hindu pilgrimage in Big Bazar area of Berhampur city. Thakurani yatra is one of the biggest and most famous festival of southern Odisha, which is celebrated in every 2 years in the month of Chaitra (April and May).

 Tara Tarini temple is a most famous Shakti Peeth in Kumari hills near Rushikulya river. It is around 35 kms from Brahmapur Railway station. It is an oldest pilgrimage center of Mata Sati. There are two twin sister dieties worshipped- Maa Tara and Tarini. Best time to visit is the Chaitra Mela festival. The festival is celebrated in the Tara Tarini hill temple, during Tuesdays of the Chaitra month in Odisha Hindu calendar. There is great picturesque in the top.

Maa Bhairavi temple, also known as Maa Siddha Bhairavi temple is another famous Shakti temple in Odisha near Berhampur city. It is only 18 kms from Berhampur. The idol features one leg and four hands, sited 4 feet down the ground level. The temple originated after goddess Sati Parvati sacrificed herself in Jagyan of Dakshya Prajapati. Sankranti of every month are considered to be auspicious.

There is also a beach nearby which is 11 kms from the temple named as Sonepur Beach. It is a mesmerizing place with clean sea beach and golden sands.

Maa Narayani temple is around 80 kms from Brahmapur city, the place is famous for picnickers. The temple is dedicated to six-armed goddess Maa Parvathi (Durga). Durga Puja is one of the popular festival in this temple. The scenic beauty of the place attracts the tourists.

The largest coastal lagoon of India, the very famous Chilika Lake is very near. Around 160 species of birds comes here during migratory season.

Mahuri Kalua Temple is around 14 kms from Brahmapur. The place is a famous picnic spot. You have to go through dense forests and hills, this attracts the tourists. Rambha panthanivas is around 50 kms from Berhampur via NH 16. It is such a beautiful place to visit or stay in a resort near Chilika Lake. It has boating facilities available. You can visit to nearby island places like Breakfast island, Honeymoon island, Sankuda islands, birds island, etc.

Barkul panthanivas is around 70 kms from Berhampur, the famous places to visit through boating are Kalijai island temple and Nalabana. Kalijai temple is a temple of goddess Kali, Makar Sankranti festival time is very famous here. Nalabana is famous to watch the Siberian migratory birds during winter seasons.

Buddhakhol is a symbol of Buddhist culture and is around 70 kms from Berhampur in Ganjam district. Panchu Mahadeva temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva is very famous. The beautiful trees, caves and perennial waterfall (panjuria) also attracts the visitors.

Taptapani is a natural hot water Sulphur springs. It is around 50 kms from Berhampur. The place is greenery all around covered with dense forests. Hot water bath is available in a pond, next to the hot spring and then you can worship. Trekking is also an option here.

There is a deer park near it, where you can find spotted deer, blackbucks, sambars and barking deer, it attracts the tourists.

Eastern coast of Odisha has number of beaches. Rushikulya beach is one of them; it is very famous for the nesting of “Olive Ridley Turtle” which is very rare. The tourists get attracted during February to May end, during this time the turtle undergoes mating process on beaches of Odisha. The nearest rail junction is Ganjam Railway station.

Nirmaljhar meaning the pure water is a perennial stream near Khallikote in Ganjam district of Odisha. Goddess Vimala is the presiding diety, there is also a Vishnu temple, a Jagannath temple, and a Sun temple. It is around 60 kms from silk city Berhampur.
